Sharilyn Ketola identified as woman killed in Olympia murder suicide, shot by James Wavrin, who also shot their pet

Police have identified a man and woman dead after a murder suicide in Olympia, Washington on Friday. Police Lt. Paul Lower confirmed that Sharilyn M. Ketola was shot and killed by her live-in boyfriend, James R. Wavrin, who murdered Sharilyn and their family pet.

Officers responded to the scene, in the 2000 block of Cooper Crest St NW, on Friday at about 8:45 a.m. after someone from a private residence callled 911 and disconnected without saying anything.

Police saw Ketola, 67, with blood around her, dead in the kitchen from a gunshot wound. Wavrin, 666, of Olympia, was dead from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. A shot gun was found next to his body.

Lower said the man and woman, who lived together, were not known to local police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Olympia Police Department at 360-753-8300.
