Sanjay Dutt issued a non-bailable warrant, appears in court, granted bail
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was issued a NBW (non-bailable warrant) by a local court in Mumbai, for failing to respond twice to the summons issued against him by film producer, Shakeel Noorani. In reference, the actor arrived later at the court along with his lawyer and was granted bail on a surety of Rs. 10,000.
Producer Shakeel Noorani had moved the Andheri court alleging that that Mr. Dutt did not complete his film “Jaan Ki Baazi” in 2002. The producer incurred a loss of Rs. 2.03 crore from the actor for leaving the film midway.
Mr. Noorani had approached Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), which had told Dutt to pay Rs 2 crores for damages. However, when the actor did not pay up, the producer approached the Bombay High Court again in 2010.
The financial dispute gained a whole new ground when Mr. Noorani stated that he was intimidated by the actor and he received threat calls after the court order, which were traced to Dubai and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt has been given a grace period of four months to surrender in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He is currently wrapping up projects and will surrender in May to complete his remaining term.
