Samuel L Jackson wants Nick Fury to be like Charlie in ‘Charlie’s Angels’ for ‘SHIELD’ show and he wanted ‘Breaking Bad’ cameo
While promoting Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained,” Samuel L. Jackson discussed his Nick Fury character, how he saw the role in connection to the upcomign TV series and revealed a fun side story.
In an interview with The Playlist and detailed by Splash Page on Friday, Jackson revealed that “S.H.I.E.L.D.” show lend his voice to the ABC TV show, but never making an appearance.
“They haven’t talked to me about it,” he said, “But when I think about the TV show I think Nick Fury should at least be like Charlie in ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ You should hear his voice, they should talk to him.”
On a side note, “Breaking Bad” and “The Avengers” both shot in nearby studios in Albuquerque, New Mexico, leading to Jackson’s desire for a Fury-“Bad” cameo.
Jackson had hoped to walk into a shot in costume and order some chicken from Pollos Hermanos, but he said none of the producers would allow him. “I just wanted to order a three piece and really freak people out,” he chuckled. “Then people would be going, ‘Wow, was that him?”
Earlier this month, Jackson revealed that Nick Fury will have a large role in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
“Everybody likes a franchise character. Bruce [Willis] had his and Sylvester Stallone had Rocky, so I like coming back to Nick Fury. Nick Fury’s a great guy,” he told ComingSoon.
Asked whether a solo movie is needed to explain Fury’s backstory, Jackson said: “I think a lot of people know that [he’s a great guy]. I know him as something else because I’ve been alive longer than most of the fans that watch the movies so I know Nick Fury as the World War II veteran and all that stuff.
“It might be interesting to do one day but we find out little bits and pieces about Nick and we’re going into Captain America 2 in late March.”
