Samuel Charles Wallace, Illinois man, identified as dead body in portable toilet
Authorites are reporting that the dead man found in a portable toilet Thursday afternoon has been identified by his fingerprints.
Samuel Charles Wallace of Charleston, described as a homeless man, was found in a downtown Port-O-Let by a waste management employee.
Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia said the man had been deceased for more than 24 hours.
“It does appear to be a natural death,” she said.
“We took his picture over to the Rockford Rescue Mission, and they did not know who he was. We have a few more places we are going to try.”
It is not known why the 61-year-old Wallace was in Rockford or how long he had been in Rockford.
An autopsy is planned today.
