Russell Crowe talks ‘Man of Steel,’ the pressure on Zack Snyder and the grandness of the production

In a recent interview to promote his new film “Broken City”, Russell Crowe talks about his upcoming comic book movie “Man of Steel” by director Zack Snyder. During an interview with Reelz released Jan. 15, the “Gladiator” star discusses bringing the DC Comics superhero back to the big screen.

“It’s really complicated. It’s really complex. I don’t think anyone has really tried to get into the psychology of what it must be like to be Superman before. What people would really respond like in a modern society if somebody like that just…popped up.”

The Australian actor talked about and praised Snyder, saying he was “given a great deal of responsibility” saying “the top of the food chain is Superman.”

Now seeing the cut of the film, Crowe gave his subjective meter to judge the film at this point.

“I think the biggest indicator for me of how it’s looking is that the financier of the film” sends Crowe gushing emails, “he loves the film, thinks it will go down really well.”

Noting the footage revealed in the trailer, Crowe talks about the grandness of the film.

“It was a massive undertaking, the types of sets that we worked on for that film were incredible. It takes you on the ground to Krypton, takes you to a planet where the sun is four times larger than ours you know. You get to experience that stuff.”

“I think people are going to love it and if you’ve seen the trailer, you realize that this Superman is not just floating through the air, held up by a wire. This Superman is supersonic, when he decides to fly, he doesn’t muck around. I’m really looking forward to the way people respond to it.”
