Robert Downey Jr talks the ’emotional journey’ of ‘Iron Man 3’
Iron Man 3 kicks off Marvel’s Phase Two of films and exploded with $300 internationally in the first week. While talking with THR Don Cheadle notes that the impressive stunts and CGI are still in the backdrop to the powerful emotions of the film.
Robert Downey Jr concurs in the May 2 interview.
“I think that Tony has had a very human journey for someone who is part of this Marvel universe.”
Audiences were left with Iron Man aka Tony Stark saving the day at the close of The Avengers. Stark now deals with the emotional baggage and fallout of the events in New York.
“Seeing him — mature is probably the wrong word — but seeing him be able to flex as he goes through all these different challenges, and kind of maintain his wit and his integrity in some way,” Downey Jr. adds. “He didn’t really have integrity when we first met him, and then he gained it as he used technology to save his own skin.”
There is no word on a fourth film, but Cheadle sounded open to the possibility – read more here.
