Robert Boudreaux, Florida man, carjacks a car and evades police to get pregnant girlfriend to the hospital
A Deltona, Florida man carjacked a driver to drive his pregnant girlfriend to the hospital, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Robert Boudreaux, age 31, walked into the path of a car to force it to stop, then threatened to shoot the driver if he didn’t give him and his 22-year-old girlfriend a ride.
The driver was released later at a red light, the sheriff’s office added.
Boudreaux’s girlfriend revealed that car ran out of gas in DeLand and a friend helped get them to Deltona. The pair walked for several miles and she became feeling lightheaded and possibly dehydrated. When she began bleeding, fear initiated a desperate boyfriend began trying to flag down a car.
Later this apparently turned to carjacking.
He forced the driver out : “Boudreaux again got angry and ordered the driver to run the light,” the sheriff’s office said. “The driver refused and Boudreaux grabbed the driver’s seat belt, using it to force him back against the seat while Boudreaux yelled that he would shoot the driver if he didn’t get out.”
The driver called 911 and responding deputies quickly found the stolen vehicle. Boudreaux used a turning lane to pass vehicles and erratically shifted lanes while refusing to stop for deputies. He pulled into the parking lot of Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.
Boudreaux continued to evade deputies until the car was finally blocked in by patrol cars.
The man faces charges of armed carjacking, fleeing or eluding and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach. The girlfriend was not charged.
