Roaches falling from the ceiling at Tampa McDonalds
There is very little more disgusting than cockroaches. However, one thing that is more disgusting is eating a meal at a restaurant and having cockroaches fall off the ceiling into your food.
This is what happened at the McDonalds restaurant on Martin Luther King Blvd right off I-275 in Tampa last month according to a WTSP.com report.
Naturally, the customer that experienced this disgusting event filed a complaint with state health inspectors.
When inspectors arrived at the food establishment, they were not allowed in to do their job of inspecting the kitchen and were told my McDonald’s personnel to “take a seat”.
After threats of a administrative complaint, inspectors were allowed in the kitchen only to discover why employees were stalling.
Inspectors found 21 violations of food safety and cleanliness including 7 critical violations to include:
- Food and standing water on the floor
- Toxic item near the utensils
- 25-30 dead roaches under the front service counter
- 5 live roaches near the kitchen sink
- Ceiling soiled with accumulated food debris
WTSP says McDonald’s issued a statement explaining that the company cares deeply about cleanliness and safety, and that the inspector’s blocked visit “was the result of confusion between the inspector and McDonald’s protocol.”
