Ridley Scott confirms ‘Bladerunner’ sequel with Harrison Ford after ‘Martian,’ ‘Prometheus 2’ update
Director Ridley Scott discussed the progress of two high profile sci-fi sequels to Blade Runner and Prometheus, confirming the timelines for both projects while speaking with Entertainment Weekly in their Aug. 25 article.
“Blade Runner 2 is written and is damn good,” says Scott. “Of course it involves Harrison (Ford), who is a survivor after all these years – despite the accident. So yes, that will happen.”
Scott confirmed that the plan is for him to direct the film, as soon as he is done with next project, The Martian, which in turn, presents an issue on returning for the sequel to Prometheus.
“That’s the problem,” he tells EW. “I’ve got a lot of ducks in a row. But they’re all written.”
No one would be surprised to see Prometheus 2 get a new director to meet the 2016 target release date.
Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are both set to return with Danny Webb rumored to be a part of the sequel. Other than Harrison Ford’s role, little is known about the Blade Runner follow up.
“We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project,” the official Blade Runner statement announced.
Prometheus 2 is set to arrive in theaters on March 4, 2016.
