Religions You Most Likely Know Nothing About

There are so many religions out there. In fact, in case you were not aware of this, there are around 4,200 religions that exist at the moment. We cannot really know all of them so it should come as no surprise that you are not aware of those that are going to be mentioned below. As you are searching online for interesting articles, you may want to learn more about them.

Druze

This is a Shiite Islam spinoff. It appeared around the eleventh century and can be found in Syria and Lebanon at the moment. It is not known how many follow this religion but it is estimated that around 1 million people are druze. Casey Kasem, late radio host, is most likely the most popular of all those that follow the religion.

Yazidi

This is one religion that you may know something about since it did appear lately in the news because of the Iraq conflicts that happen. American soldiers were sent to the country in order to free some trapped Yazidis. This is a fate that is a combination of Sufi Islam and Shiite Islam. It may not be considered as being an actual religion by some specialists but others disagree.

Church Of All Words

This is a Neopaganism offshoot. It is actually one of the oldest and is focused on the Earth Goddess. The believers basically worship a special divine being that is connected to Earth, one that flows into everyday beliefs. We are basically talking about a system ov customs, ideas and values that are strongly connected to an organic approach. It currently still evolves and we can say that this is among the newest religions that exist in the world. In a similar fashion, we have Mami Wata, which is a religion that focuses on water and appears in Africa. Mami Wata is the water spirit.

Jainism

This is one religion that is extremely popular in India but is not that well-known in other countries. There are over 6 million followers all around the world according to Patheos. This religion focuses on having the followers clear themselves of negative karma and making themselves become better, transforming people into “conquerers”.

Candomble

The last one on our list, Candomble is a religious belief that says that one diving being rules the world with the aid of smaller ones. This existed ever since the West African slave ships appeared in Brazil and has been growing in recent years.
