‘Red 2’ adds ‘Harry Potter’ actor David Thewlis as The Frog
Many fans may know David Thewlis as Remus Lupin from the “Harry Potter” series, but the English actor will be The Frog. Thewlis is joining the all-star cast of the “Red” sequel as a dealer of information.
THR reported on Friday that the “Timeline” will be a newcomer to director Dean Parisot’s “Red 2” film.
The Summit/Lionsgate sequel will feature the return of Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker, who will all be reprising their roles from the successful 2010 film.
Thewlis will play an information dealer who earned the nickname The Frog after poisoning the Kremlin’s water supply with an Amazonian frog.
“Red,” which stands for Retired: Extremely Dangerous, followed Frank Moses (Willis) who is forced out of retirement after a he takes out a hit squad which was sent to his house. The elderly cast are reunited top level assassins and former government agents from all over the world.
The sequel adds Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung-hun Lee, Neal McDonough and Anthony Hopkins. The “Red” team will be battling new enemies in Europe and searching for a weapon of mass destruction.
“Red 2” is set to arrive in theaters on August 2, 2013 with production set to begin this fall in Montreal.
