Raymond Garcia, Roswell New Mexico man, shot with taser, pepper spray to stop him fighting a stop sign
Pepper spray, a taser and police couldn’t seem to break up this fight in Roswell, New Mexico.
The battle was between Raymond Garcia, age 45, and a road sign – more specifically: a stop sign.
Roswell police well called to a report of a man engaging in an altercation with a stop sign early Friday and they arrived to find Garcia, who appeared to be under the alleged influence of drugs, KRQE-TV, Albuquerque, reported Tuesday.
“Usually when somebody is tased, their muscles contract and don’t allow them to do anything, and that’s why you normally see them fall to the ground,” Sabrina Morales of the Roswell Police Department said. “So this person, Garcia, had to be on some sort of drug possibly that was not allowing his system to react normally.”
The man was “belligerent” at one point, then attacked the police officers, disarmed one and used the baton to fight them as well.
Garcia was finally arrested and charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer, disarming, and resisting officers.
