Rand Paul’s FY2014 Budget ‘A Clear Vision to Revitalize America’ doesn’t pass the Senate with a vote of 18-81

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul introduced his proposed plan, “A Clear Vision to Revitalize America”, to balance the budget in five years  by implementing serious spending cuts, entitlement reform, tax reform, regulatory reform and energy independence Friday.

Unfortunately, the cost cutting amendment, No. 263,  failed to pass the US Senate Friday garnering only 18 (all Republicans) votes.

Senator Paul thanked the 18 Senators on his Facebook page today (which got more than 2,100 comments as of this writing):

I’d like to thank the 18 Senators who voted for my budget. They voted to balance the budget in five years, serious spending reductions, elimination of federal departments, a single-rate flat tax and real entitlement reform.

The 18 “Yeas” were:

Barrasso (R-WY)
Coburn (R-OK)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
Cruz (R-TX)
Enzi (R-WY)
Flake (R-AZ)
Inhofe (R-OK)
Johnson (R-WI)
Lee (R-UT)
McConnell (R-KY)
Moran (R-KS)
Paul (R-KY)
Risch (R-ID)
Scott (R-SC)
Sessions (R-AL)
Shelby (R-AL)
Vitter (R-LA)

Notably absent from the “yeas” was 2010 Tea Party favorite and so-called small government conservative, Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio.
