Rand Paul to Chris Christie and Peter King: ‘gimme, gimme, gimme — give me all my Sandy money now’
After taking shots recently from Rep. Peter King (R-NY) and NJ Governor Chris Christie over foreign policy, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul came back with a few words for the northeastern Republicans.
At a fundraiser, the Associated Press reports that Paul criticized their spending ways, particularly the tens of billions that got in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
“They’re precisely the same people who are unwilling to cut the spending, and their ‘gimme, gimme, gimme — give me all my Sandy money now.
“Those are the people who are bankrupting the government and not letting enough money be left over for national defense,” he added.
Earlier this year, the Congress passed a law providing over $50 billion in “Hurricane Sandy relief”. However, as previously reported, it included tens of billions in pork to include money for Amtrak, FBI salaries and money for roads throughout the country not affected by Sandy.
As one commentor said on a Long Island news source, “Where the hell did the billions go?”
Rep. King called Paul’s comments “indefensible”.
