Kentucky Senator Rand Paul met with supporters Valentine’s Day evening in the brisk confines of a Dolphin Aviation hanger to lay out his vision in a appearance sponsored by the Republican Party of Sarasota.

After receiving the “Republican of the Year 2015” award from the organization and giving a rose to his wife, Kelly, Dr Paul, went into a powerful 20 minute speech starting out with, “If we want to win, if we want to be the dominate party, if we want to be in charge at the White House again, we need to be boldly for what we are for.

“Some say we just need to dilute the message, we need to be Democrat-lite, anybody here Democrat-Lite?”, Paul asked the excited audience.

The likely 2016 Republican presidential contender spent some time taking jabs at the the federal government, the Post Office and “Hillary’s War”.

“There are two sectors in the economy, the productive sector–You, and the non-productive sector–the people that live in Washington. They don’t make anything, they can’t even run the Post Office.”

“They say we’re gonna project our power, we’re gonna create new nations around the world, we can’t even run our own Post Office. They came to me last year at my committee and you know what they said? We need bonuses for people at the Post Office”, Paul recounts.

“They say you gotta to pay people to retain talent, to get talent and I said, How much talent does it take to lose a billion dollars a quarter?” to the laughs of the bundled up crowd.

Much of the speech was on foreign policy, Libya and Hillary Clinton.

“When it gets to the middle of August, Ambassador Stevens is sending cable after cable pleading that they are under direct attack and in danger of being overrun. So when Hillary Clinton came before my committee and I asked her the question, Did you read the cables?–She acted a little put off, she acted as if “Who me?”, I’m a little too important to be reading the cables.”
