Rand Paul calls on Pakistan to stand up for Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai is an even bigger icon and role model to girls, women and the people of Pakistan after surviving a life threatening attack by the Taliban.

Now Kentucky Republican Rand Paul writes in the USA Today commending the teen’s bravery and courage while calling on the Pakistanis and Muslims to stand up against this violence.

“I can only hope that the violence done to her will motivate those who believe in both Islam and peace and tolerance to stand unanimously and proclaim this violence does not represent them. That the Taliban does not represent them. That gunning down children in cold blood does not please their God,” writes Paul.

“I will continue to fight to let Pakistan self-determine her future but Pakistan can aid her own cause by stamping out this unspeakable violence that attempted to strike down such a beautiful voice. It must lift up Malala’s voice for freedom and tolerance with the echo of thousands of voices, so that it may never truly be silenced.”
