Project Longevity, Launched In Connecticut prior to the Sandy Hook shooting by Adam Lanza
Make no mistake – Project Longevity has come to CT.. full bore… and just 17 days prior to the Sandy Hook shooting.
Remember Attorney General Eric Holder’s comments:
“What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that’s not cool, that it’s not acceptable, it’s not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we changed our attitudes about cigarettes.” … he said we really need to “brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way.”
Well, the brainwashing mechanisms have been put into place in CT since November 2012 through “Project Longevity” and it is very interesting to me that this was NOT started in the hideously crime ridden cities of Chicago (IL), Detroit(MI), or Oakland (CA)! Why CT?
Attorney General Eric Holder, U.S. Attorney David Fein and Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy joined members of law enforcement, public officials, social service providers, community leaders and researchers in New Haven today to launch “Project Longevity,” a comprehensive initiative to reduce gun violence in Connecticut’s major cities. Project Longevity uses a strategy that has shown violence can be reduced dramatically when community members and law enforcement join together to directly engage with these groups and clearly communicate a community message against violence, a law enforcement message about the consequences of further violence and an offer of help for those who want it. To accomplish this, law enforcement, social service providers and community members are recruited, assembled and trained to engage in a sustained relationship with violent groups.
“Project Longevity will send a powerful message to those who would commit violent crimes targeting their fellow citizens that such acts will not be tolerated and that help is available for all those who wish to break the cycle of violence and gang activity,” said Attorney General Holder. “Today’s announcement underscores our commitment to working together – across levels of government and jurisdictional boundaries – to protect the American people from the crime that threatens too many neighborhoods and claims far too many innocent lives.”
Project Longevity is based on a model that has been successful in reducing gun violence in multiple neighborhoods across the country and represents the first time the strategy is being implemented statewide.
Again I wonder, why CT?
Why not launch in a state which is brimming with rampant crime, like Illinois or California?
Perhaps they didn’t want the spotlight to be placed on the those places which have restrictive gun control laws – which obvious have been failures. And not even a month later from this announcement, we have this horrific shooting in the sleepy little suburban community of Sandy Hook, perpetrated by another troubled young adult as in mass shootings before.
The Newtown shooting has since become the locus of the national gun control debate wherein proponents of citizen disarmament have obscenely exploited the deaths of children to further their anti-gun policies promoted via fear and ignorance and steeped in the desire for population control. The propaganda against guns has raged – and suspiciously absent are any toxicology reports or police reports from the shooting.
It is claimed that the shooting was quite complex and that “the Feds” are also involved in preparing the reports.
Meanwhile… anti-gun propaganda is being spread via the media and established gun control groups who have enlisted the aid of religious entities (surprise!) and community leaders (seeking votes) just like what was enlisted in Project Longevity.
“On the state level, I have directed my administration to focus our criminal justice resources on urban violence,” Governor Malloy said. “We agree that no strategy will be effective without the support of the community. This means parents, clergy, neighborhood leaders, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles – everyone working toward one goal. We are working to regain the trust of the African American and Latino communities. We need their help. The lives of these young people are too valuable not to act.”
Funded by federal, state and local sources, Project Longevity is being launched initially in three Connecticut cities – New Haven, Hartford and Bridgeport.
“After more than a year of hard work and preparation by so many public and private partners, I am pleased to announce Project Longevity, our statewide anti-violence initiative,” said U.S. Attorney Fein. “Many dedicated people and organizations have come together to support this proven strategy to reduce gang and gun violence through focused deterrence.”
A critical component of the Project Longevity strategy is the “call-in,” a face-to-face meeting where partners engage group members and deliver certain key messages. First, that group members are part of a community, that gun violence is unacceptable and that the community needs it to end.
Conspiracy theories abound regarding the Sandy Hook shooting, and I am not advancing any of them, however I find it interesting that a mechanism of “community engagement” regarding violence with an agenda of “delivering key messages” was formally put in place only one month before the Newtown shooting by a federal agency already suspect for running guns to Mexican Drug Cartels through the Fast and Furious scandal(meant to further the gun control debate in the US). Coincidence?
Key information, in the form of reports surrounding the shooting incident in Sandy Hook, are also suspiciously not yet available. The truths about the shooting are NOT being made available or disseminated (not even in preliminary form!)… but mis-information and outright lies about firearms and firearms ownership is being purposely fed to the masses via “community engagement” of various new, as well as older, organizations.
Anti-gun organizations like CAGV and the Brady Campaign, are viciously peddling the Socialist gun control propaganda message that is being driven into the heads of a population (with the help of local and national media) who are desperate for someone to blame and someone to punish, coupled with a foolish notion that restricting the ability for individual self defense is somehow going to magically prevent another Sandy Hook from happening ever again.
Well meaning individuals, and emotions, are being manipulated and exploited by these anti-gun organizations.
Just remember that pro second amendment groups are also anti-violence – they grieve just as equally for those dead children and teachers in Newtown, CT… but the message being crafted by the anti-gun crowd is that gun owners are evil and must be disarmed, even if they are the good guys who help to curb and in many cases prevent gun crimes, and even if the restrictive laws in CT have proven to be ineffective and did not prevent Adam Lanza from murdering innocent people.
