Pro-lifers rally, call on President Trump ‘finish the job’

Saturday, April 29, 2017, was President Donald Trump’s 100th day in office and while the mainstream press bemoaned the president and his short tenure thus far, pro-life citizens gathered to urge President Trump to “finish the job” of defunding America’s abortion giant, Planned Parenthood.

Eric Scheidler is one three national co-directors of #ProtestPP and Executive Director of the Pro-Life Action League. He explained that while Americans have appreciated President Trump’s efforts to curb the abortion vendor’s access to a half billion taxpayer dollars, the work is not done.

“We are pleased that the President signed a bill last week allowing states to withhold federal money from organizations that provide abortion services, including Planned Parenthood,” said Scheidler. “We also welcomed his initial executive action reinstating the Mexico City Policy, which bars international non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortions from receiving US government funding. But the government is still subsidizing Planned Parenthood to the tune of $430 million annually, and that is unacceptable.”

Monica M. Miller, another national #ProtestPP co-director and head of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society comments: “The defunding of Planned Parenthood is a matter of moral principle. Not a single cent of American tax dollars should go to an organization that kills innocent human life—that fails to honor the sanctity of life. Planned Parenthood could continue to receive government support if it ceases killing the unborn. Opposition to Planned Parenthood is about abortion and the facilitation of abortion.”

“This effort has nothing to do with limiting anyone’s access to healthcare,” remarked #ProtestPP co-director Mark Harrington, also head of the pro-life group Created Equal. “Planned Parenthood pretends women rely on them for basic healthcare, but they only perform 1% of annual pap tests while doing 35% of annual abortions. Our tax dollars should be shifted to Federally Qualified Health Centers that have a higher standard of care than Planned Parenthood, while not being involved in abortion.”

Like-minded Americans will gather this Friday and Saturday for rallies, marches, pickets and prayer vigils outside Planned Parenthood facilities across the United States and the nation’s capital to #ProtestPP.

Scheidler, Miller and Harrington noted that opposition to Planned Parenthood is at an all-time high. They pointed out that most people are sickened by the abortion group’s participation in baby body parts trafficking and many are troubled by the organization’s aggressive marketing of abortion to women, including setting abortion quotas at their centers with special perks for staff who hit their abortion targets.

#ProtestPP events, coordinated by Pro-Life Action League, Created Equal, and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, joined by a coalition of over 70 pro-life organizations, offer Americans a united chance to speak out against the nation’s largest abortion chain, which kills over 300,000 babies each year. At the same time, participants can encourage President Trump and the 115th Congress to “finish the job” of stripping Planned Parenthood of its half billion-dollar taxpayer-funded stipend.
