PositiveSingles: STD dating and whole lot more

Online dating sites are hugely popular and can cater specifically to virtually every individuals wants and needs- Christian dating, Jewish dating, 50+ dating and just about anything else under the sun. One dating site specializes in what they call, “STD dating”; however, as you’ll see, it offers dating services and a whole lot more.

I had the opportunity to chat via email with the spokesperson of PositiveSingles.com, Jenelle Marie about the unique dating website and what they offer for those looking for STD dating.

Robert Herriman: What is STD dating and what is PositiveSingles.com?

Jenelle Marie: STD dating is a shorter way of saying dating with an STD, really. Basically, there’s no difference between ‘STD dating’ and ‘dating’ – although, we point out that it’s dating with an STD, because PositiveSingles.com caters to those who are living with an STD. So, anyone who’d like to try out a dating site but would also prefer to date partners with the same or a similar infection can use our platform.

RH: What would someone expect when visiting PositiveSingles.com?

JM: PositiveSingles.com operates just like some of the more traditional online dating platforms, but the added benefit behind our membership is that we also offer support functions – an active forum, a question and answer section, a personal blog option, recent news, and extensive articles all geared toward helping people who have been diagnosed with an STD move forward with their lives in a positive and supported environment.

RH: Do you see success stories where long term relationships or marriages come out of people meeting on PositiveSingles.com?

JM: We’ve received countless success stories from people who have found long-term partnerships, marriages, and even a myriad of folks who’ve made life-long friends through our site. Because our platform is so interactive, people have great success finding both a traditional mate or partner as well as establishing connections with other like-minded folks who support them holistically.

RH: One of the things I found fascinating about PositiveSingles is that it offers much more than just a dating service. The quantity and quality of STD information (support forums, STD treatments and locations for treatment and more) is abundant and valuable to someone suffering with one or more of these infections. Can you elaborate on these valuable services?

JM: Certainly. Our members find our comprehensive services and content most helpful after being diagnosed with a long-term infection or disease, because there are very few resources offering that level of support. Not only are the clinical/factual resources available by way of information about symptoms and treatment, but we also cover those grey areas that are very rarely addressed in a medical setting: we help our members find others in similar situations, we offer advice about how to talk to new partners, how to date safely with an infection, how to address stigma, etc.. All of that empowers our users to move forward confidently despite an STD diagnosis.

RH: How many members do you have? Is there a membership fee?

JM: We have over 840,000 members worldwide.

It’s free to join and set-up a profile, and a lot of our base-level content is accessible for free as well. However, if a user wants to contact other members or access more of our comprehensive support services, they can subscribe to one of three membership options: 1 month for $29.95 (about $1 a day), 3 months for $59.95 (a 35% savings), or 6 months for $95.95 (a 45% savings).

RH: What about member privacy?

JM: We have a number of privacy settings in place to protect our users. We encrypt all of their data through our secure server software, we offer a quick exit feature that redirect one’s browser when and if someone approaches while a user is accessing our platform, and we never share their information with outside parties. Users get to choose when and with whom they share their photos, contact information, and personal details, and we encourage our members to do so only once they’ve established a trusting relationship with a potential partner.

I would like to thank Jenelle for taking the time to tell me more about the services available at PositiveSingles.com. Check out the STD online dating site and see for yourself at PositiveSingles.com.
