Police still seeking motive in New Jersey murder suicide, George Buller killing of mother in an ALF
Investigators are still seeking answers and a possible motive behind the man fatally shooting his elderly mother in a New Jersey assisted-living facility Sunday evening and then killing himself.
George Buller III, 62, of Lumberton, went to visit his mother, Adree Buller, 85, at the Genesis HealthCare facility, investigators said. The man shot and killed his mother in her private room and shot himself as a nurse’s aide walked into the room
The man and his mother were both pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured during the incident, but staff did clear the residents to a safe place as the investigation is ongoing.
Police said George Buller was a regular visitor to the nursing home where his mother lived adding that they are still working to determine what led to the murder-suicide and where George Buller got the gun he used.
Voorhees Township Police Deputy Chief Bill Donnelly told NBC10 no one heard any yelling or argument moments before the shooting. Police are trying to determine how and why a gun was brought inside the facility.
“It’s unknown exactly where the gun was or if he did go out to retrieve the gun,” Chief Donnelly said. “At this point that’s what we’re speculating because he did leave the facility and come back inside.”
One official said Mr. Buller walked back to his car just prior to the shooting.
