Police identify San Jose shooting victim as Marcos Flores, still seeking leads
A man who was shot and killed in South San Jose late Monday has been identified as Marcos Flores, according to the San Jose Police Department.
After reports of a gun fire, offiers were dispatched to Motenrey Highway, near Chynoweth Avenue, and discovered the man dead. Flores, 19, died from at least one gunshot wound after being rushed to the local hospital, where he was pronounced dead
Police have not announced a motive behind the slaying or any suspects.
Flores’ family spoke to the press, saying he was not involved in the gang activity which is causing much of the violence in the Roundtable neighborhood where the shooting occurred.
Investigators did not release additional details about the circumstances of the shooting, but the victim’s relatives said Flores had been approached by an unknown man who tried to draw him into a fight and shot him when he walked away.
The shooting marked the city’s 12th homicide of the year; at the same point last year, 19 had been recorded.
