Police identify Leah Fields, James Dice identified in murder suicide case

State police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in which a man shot and killed a teenager before turning the gun on himself, according to authorities.

The coroner’s office has identified the victims on Monday as James Dice Jr., 29, fatally shot Leah Fields, 19, between 3 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. in Fayette County, Pennsylvania police said.

Trooper James Garlick said the couple had been dating, but that there had been no known incidents between them before, He added that they say both are from Smithfield.

While he didn’t give details, he added that Dice waited some time between killing Fields and shooting himself.

State police had no additional information on the incident. The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to call 724-439-7111.
