Police arrest seven connected to ‘planned’ Daniel Alejandro Alvarado Cuellar murder

Baltimore County police announced that they have arrested seven individuals, including one teen who will be charged as an adult, for their role in the murder of Daniel Alejandro Alvarado Cuellar on July 31.

Cuellar, 21, was found dead at the Loch Raven Village Apartments after police received an anonymous 911 call that came in at 3:30 a.m. on that Wednesday.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Cuellar’s death a homicide by multiple sharp force injuries.

“We know that when the person was found, he had some kind of trauma to his body, but at this point we’re not able to positively identify what kind of trauma that is,” Officer Jennifer Peach, of the Baltimore County Police Department, said at the time of the initial reporting. “We can’t tell if it’s a shooting wound, a gunshot wound, or a knife wound or some other blunt object.”

Later Peach stated: “The cause of death was multiple stab wounds, and through our investigation, we were able to determine it was more than one person who caused those stab wounds.”

The seven have all been charged with first-degree murder, held without bail in the Baltimore County Detention Center following bail review hearings:

  • Jonathan Escobar-Hernandez, 20, of the 500 block of Castle Drive.
  • Marlon Leonardo Fabian-Flores, 20, of the 4700 block of Hanover Pike.
  • Edwin Edgardo Garcia-Martir, 18, of the unit block of Sargent Court.
  • Hugo Portillo-Chavez, 31, of the 200 block of Hogarth Circle.
  • Jose Fausto Rivera-Coreas, 19, of the 1000 block of Misty Lynn Circle.
  • Odaliz Rosas-Yanez, 20, of the 600 block of Knollcrest Place.
  • Leonel Alexander Velasquez-Hernadez, 16, of the 900 block of Cranbrook Road.

Police report that this was a planned murder, but did not disclose a motive at this time.

Police said that all seven suspects could face a life sentence in prison if they are convicted. They also said that there is a possibility more people could be charged in connection to this homicide.
