‘Planet of the Apes 3’ to 2017, new Matt Damon ‘Bourne’ film moves, ‘Gambit’ set
Fox is shuffling their upcoming films which then prompted Matt Damon’s Bourne 5 film to be moved as well. New dates for Assassin’s Creed, The Fantastic Four, a third Planet of the Apes film, the X-Men spin-off Gambit and much more.
Fox announced that the Channing Tatum led Gambit film will now land in 2016, opening on October 7 with the video game adaptation, Assassin’s Creed, with Michael Fassbender, opening on December 21, 2016.
One of the big changes is a year delay for Planet of the Apes 3. The sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was a huge success, so expect much fan anticipation for the film now opening July 14, 2017.
The Apes 3 move prompted Universal to snag the July 2016 date for Damon’s return as Jason Bourne. Bourne 5, which will be directed by Paul Greengrass, is now set to hit U.S. theaters on July 29, 2016. The new date was previously taken by Planet of the Apes 3 which is now set for July 14, 2017.
Fox also moved The Fantastic Four up by five weeks to June 2, 2017, its former spot going to the Apes pic.
Assassin’s Creed starring Michael Fassbender, which was pushed from its August 2015, date in September, now will face off against an untitled Illumination Entertainment pic.
