‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ won’t lose Kaya Scodelario to injury, fake whale on set
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales star Kaya Scodelario’s recent injury may prove to a big problem for the production and Disney’s prized Johnny Depp-led franchise.
According to Perth Now, Scodelario sustained a serious shoulder injury last week, falling on set. Two months ago, Depp, who returns as Captain Jack Sparrow injured his hand.
Following her accident, Scodelario was spotted leaving her hotel with a sling attached to her left arm. This has led fans to further speculate that she could be leaving the franchise for good.
However, it has been confirmed that no such thing will happen because after Scodelario fully recovers from her accident, she will return as usual to filming her scenes on Pirates of the Caribbean 5.
Leaked footage from the set of the film showed featured the huge fake whale that will be part of the movie.
According to IBTimes, the work on the whale started this week and it is reportedly made out of coated polystyrene materials. The whale will also be transported to Hastings Point, where the other cast members are filming after it is completed this coming Friday.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales returns Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa and Keith Richards as Jack’s father. Javier Bardem will join the cast as Captain Salazar, the antagonist for the fifth film.
The film also stars Brenton Thwaites, Martin Klebba, David Wenham, Stephen Graham and, of course, Kevin McNally as Gibbs.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will arrive in theaters July 7, 2017.
