Pinellas Commissioners face term limit deadline

Four Pinellas County Commissioners (Latvala, Morroni, Seel and Welch) are being asked to resign and step aside based on a term limit law, which would make each of them ineligible to another term.

The 1997 “Eight is Enough” Law prohibits the Commissioners from keeping their seasts and over a dozen angry citizens and several civic organizations demanded the resignation of Susan Latvala, John Marroni, Karen Seel, and Ken Welch at Tuesday’s County Commissioners meeting.

“The people have spoken,” Commissioner Seel’s own words were quoted back to her and her fellow Commissioners as the issue was addressed.

There were no resignations, but the deadline to respond is Friday, so it is likely that the Commissioners will make a stance and continue fight.
