Philip Romero talks William Pilgrim & The All Grows Up, ‘In The Streets’ and ‘Epic Endings’
Ishmael Herring and Philip Romero have had instant chemistry since their critically acclaimed album The Great Recession and now have dropped a new single ahead of the August release of their second album. Romero spoke with Dispatch Radio about the new single and album in an exclusive interview.
“In The Streets” and video were released last month and Romero says fans can expect more “storytelling” on the full album titled Epic Endings. Romero talks about the William Pilgrim style as 60’s soul with blues, funk and folk style to “tell tales.”
The six-time Grammy Award winning gospel group Blind Boys of Alabama join the duo on the new single and Exene Cervenka (X) also provides guest vocals on the album.
Philip and Ish are great storytellers, diving deep into their personal struggles and the difficulties of our time. Nothing is held back in this interview, including Ish living on the street for years and the social, economic struggles of our time as well as war.
