Patrick Wilson joins ‘Aquaman’ as the villain Ocean Master

Fans are eager to see the cinematic DC universe and Aquaman is indeed set for 2018 with The Atlantian leader, played by Jason Momoa. Now the new film gets a villain in the way of Patrick Wilson, set to play the prime villain: Ocean Master.

According to Deadline, Wilson has been cast as Orm, Arthur Curry’s half-brother who always seems to have one eye on the throne of Atlantis. He’s proven to be a spear in Aquaman’s side in the comics and animated incarnations, including the animated film Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.

Director James Wan will also have Amber Heard as Queen Mera, who is hydrokinetic.

Wilson and Wan worked together on The Conjuring (which Wan helmed) and Insidious films (Wan headed the first two installments and produced Chapter 3).

“We grew up reading or watching this character on the peripheral. I was never so in depth with Aquaman as, let’s say, I was with X-Men. I grew up loving X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman,” Wan teased of the character.

“Those are obviously the key big ones, but there’s always something kind of cool about Aquaman still, the idea of creating a huge world that is on our planet. That’s the thing about Aquaman that’s cool is he’s not an alien, right?”

“He’s from our planet and he’s from a society that we’re not privy to in the context of the story. Isn’t it crazy to think that we’ve explored space more than we have explored the depths of our ocean? That just fires up my imagination about potential sea monsters and cool creatures, that kind of stuff.”

Aquaman arrives in theaters on October 5, 2018.
