Pastor Jordan Brown sues Whole Foods over gay slur on cake, but is it a hoax

An openly gay Texas pastor is suing Whole Foods Inc. claiming that he ordered a cake with the words “Love Wins” on it, but that the final product included an anti-gay slur. The company’s response says the cake was as ordered, no added insults and was prepared by a member “who is part of the LGBTQ community.” Check out the photo below.

Pastor Jordan Brown of Church of Open Doors in Austin, Texas, is claiming that the cake ended up reading, “Love Wins Fag,” and has hired the Kaplan Law Firm in Austin to sue.

“Pastor Brown never asked for this to happen,” attorney Austin Kaplan said in a statement. “He continues to be overwhelmed by the feelings of pain, anguish, and humiliation because of this incident.”

The preacher’s fear, Kaplan said, is that someone else will have to face a similar “excruciating experience” if Whole Foods isn’t held accountable for the alleged incident.

“This is discrimination,” Brown said in a video recorded on April 14, the day he claims to have purchased the cake from Whole Foods.

“Our team members do not accept or design bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive. Whole Foods Market has a zero tolerance policy for discrimination,” the company said. “We stand behind our bakery team member, who is part of the LGBTQ community, and the additional team members from the store, who confirmed the cake was decorated with only the message ‘Love Wins.’”

So, did a gay employee at Whole Foods add the word or is this a publicity stunt, exploiting the political correctness of 2016?

Mike Cernovich at Danger and Play calls it a hoax:

Although anything in possible in this crazy world, this story has all of the telltale signs of a hoax:

It fits a narrative. (Everyone hates gays.)
The “victim” hired a lawyer within hours.
The “victim” took his story to a friendly journalist.
The “victim” destroyed evidence.
The letters don’t match.
Add to the story some real life facts. Austin, Texas is the most liberal city outside of San Francisco, and Whole Foods is as left-wing as it gets. Do you really believe that an employee at a Whole Foods in a liberal city wrote Fag on a cake?
