Pastor Jeremiah Omolara murdered in Nigeria, militants kidnapped his wife and son
On Sunday evening, Pastor Jeremiah Omolara of Living Faith Church was attacked while driving with his wife and son in Kaduna state. According to the report given by the Punchng.com, gunmen ambushed the family as they were travelling to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. They opened fire on the moving vehicle, instantly killing the pastor. They then captured the wife and took her somewhere else. Their son, who was reportedly in the car with them was able to escape.
The abductors are now asking for a ransom of about 50 million Naira or 140,000 dollars. This comes around the same times as another pastor, Reverend Father Joe, was attacked by gunmen at his residence and his security guard killed in Kasuwan Magani in Kaduna State. Clergy have become a regular target of kidnappers and militants in Nigeria, as they are seen as an easy source for ransom.
The Nigerian government has done little to protect these men, and rarely helps secure their release. This is also a sign of how people think about Christians in Nigeria, as very few other religious leaders ever face the same attacks. Please pray for those raised up to lead the Church in Nigeria.
