Pakistani man, Altaf Hussein Hati, beheaded in Saudi Arabia for killing compatriot
A Pakistani man became the 74th person executed in the kingdom Sunday, according to a Dawn.com report. He was executed by beheading in the Muslim holy city of Mecca.
Altaf Hussein Hati was found guilty of stabbing a compatriot to death. It is reported that Hati stabbed the unidentified man in the throat and left him to bleed to death.
The human rights organization, Amnesty International says there were 79 executions in the kingdom in all of 2011.
According to the report, rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under its strict version of sharia, or Islamic law.
