‘Pacific Rim’ sequel wraps, Charlie Hunnam talks, ‘Frozen 2’ still a long ways off, Chris Pine clueless about ‘Star Trek 4’
Just a few updates from a few upcoming projects: Frozen 2, Star Trek 4 and the sequel to Pacific Rim, titled Pacific Rim: Uprising.
First up will be Disney producer Peter Del Vecho telling Entertainment Weekly that though he expects the Frozen 2 story to continue to evolve and that he and his team have been working on the script long enough to have a good sense of how audiences will respond.
“Now that we’ve been involved in it for awhile, what’s exciting is it feels like it builds on the first movie. You understand things better in the first movie after you’ve seen the sequel.”
Based on those remarks, this isn’t even close and fan can’t expect this is theaters until at least 2019.
Pacific Rim 2 has officially wrapped production.
Director Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil season 1), who took over directing duties from Guillermo del Toro, shared the news on Instagram. Speaking with Screen Daily, star Charlie Hunnan confirmed he has no desire to return to TV for the Sons of Anarchy spin-off and confirms that his absence from the new film was due to scheduling.
“There was a huge scheduling conflict. I was already really, really invested in doing Papillion.”
The China-based corporation Dalian Wanda had bought Legendary Entertainment, the company that produced Pacific Rim, the work on Pacific Rim: Uprising started at a faster pace, and they wanted to do it very rapidly.
“What happened was Legendary was sold to Wanda, which is the big Chinese corporation, and Pacific Rim, although it underperformed in other territories in the world, was an enormous success in China. All of a sudden, it became their primary focus to make this and they wanted to do it very, very rapidly…”
He had to make a tough call: “I think their schedule subsequently changed, and I might have been able to do both, but at that time, they were writing the script and they needed to know, was I in or was I out?”

Pacific Rim: Uprising is set for February 23, 2018 with Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega headlining another great cast.
Meanwhile, Chris Pine claims he’s clueless…about the new Star Trek film.
Simply labeled Star Trek 4 for now, Pine talked with MTV at CinemaCon last week and the Wonder Woman actor said that “I am literally one of the last people to find out. Costume designers find out before me. Prop people find out before me. I can’t wait to make the film. I love everyone in the film. You know that. I love the world. I will be back as many times as they ask me. I love the tall man they call Thor. I’ll do this film. If you can talk to [Star Trek producer] J.J. [Abrams] for me, please do. Let him tell me. I’d like to find out so I can plan my life.”
Pine may be hinting at some rumors of Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Kirk’s deceased father, more HERE
