‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 wraps with villains getting their happy ending – video
Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) is racing to save his dark heart, which is turning into coal, fast, and his only hope at redemption is The Author (Patrick Fischler) writing a new kind of fairy tale – one where the villains win.
In this sneak peek clip from Sunday’s two-hour season finale, The Author is willing to help Mr. Gold, though Gold can’t understand why. “You have the quill now. You don’t need me anymore,” he says.
“I know what that’s like — to always have dissatisfaction gnawing at you, watching other people’s happiness bloom,” he says. “It’s time for a world where up is down, where villains can have happy endings.”
But before he puts the finishing touches on the new story, he has one last piece of the puzzle to figure out — what to do about Baelfire, Rumple’s son. Yes, fans – Neal could return!
Rumplestiltskin appears as a heroic knight who rescues Henry (Jared Gilmore) from an ogre. What does that mean for the happy endings of real heroes Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and what’s in store for the Wicked Witch (Lana Parrilla)?
Creator Edward Kitsis confirms to TVLine, “This [top secret scene] will be much more like season 1 in that it’s a condition of the show that changes and has ramifications for everyone.” – and yes, this confirms Once will be back for a fifth season.
“There will be a wedding in the finale,” Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly. “Whether it goes through or not, you’ll have to watch.”
