Ohio: Reporter Nikki Delmotte killed in murder suicide by her uncle, Robert Delamotte
The Perrysburg Township Police Department in Ohio has officially ruled that Cleveland.com reporter Nikki Delmotte’s death was a murder suicide, shot and killed by her uncle, Robert J. Delamotte, who then turned the gun on himself.
Delamotte, 30, whose legal name was Nicole Delamotte-Ullman, was found dead in a Perrysburg Township home in the Friendly Village mobile home park on Monday. She was found dead alongside her uncle, Robert, 67, in the living room.
The autopsy results revealed by the Wood County’s coroner indicate that Nikki was shot three times and that Robert was shot one time, a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Her mother JoAnne Ullman told cleveland.com that Delamotte made plans to meet her uncle Sunday to watch a football game at a local bar. JoAnne reported Nikki as missing the following morning, prompting the welfare check to Friendly Village.
ABC noted that “Her friend tells 13abc she was visiting her estranged uncle and was trying to make amends and reconnect with him” following the death of her maternal grandmother.
Robert Delamotte did not appear to have a criminal record, as court records only showed traffic tickets. Police had not been called to his mobile home for any reason prior to Monday, according to the department’s records.
Nikki worked for Cleveland.com as a culture reporter, covering the city’s artists, musicians, restaurants and designers. She attended Springfield High School in Holland and graduated from Cleveland State University. More here
