An Ohio grandmother is claiming the picture was a joke, in response to the photo post on Facebook of her granddaughter with duct tape around the pacifier, holding it in her mouth.

Jackie Sheaks of West Columbus admits she won’t be posting photos on Facebook of her granddaughter in different positions anymore.  A separate photo depicted the child in a roasting pan and while she may have found it funny, authorities did not.

The sheriff came her door and so did Children Services out of concern the child was in danger.

“We would never harm our children, never,” Sheaks says.  She adds that she’s taken posed photos of other family children all her life-and no one in the family objected.

“We’re not horrible people that they are making us out to me,” she told the local news outlet.

“It started as just a joke; we put a little tape on the pacifier because we were being silly,” Sheaks added to WBNS. “We wanted to share it with friends because everybody that knows us, knows we play around like that.”

“Oh, it’s definitely taught me a lesson: what we think is funny, other people don’t (and) it will never happen again.  It’s definitely taught us a lesson.”

The child’s mother says she had no problem with the photos.  The family says it’s glad the sheriff and Children Services did come to investigate, but tells 10TV they have heard nothing about any charges against them.

So, what was some of the response after the Sheaks explanation.

“Folks, think twice and thrice before posting a child’s picture. Somewhere someone is not going to mind their own business. I can see that the tape isn’t on tight, but some one else will have a knee jerk reaction and government agents could show up at your house and shoot you and throw a flash grenade in to the baby’s face. To protect the baby,of course, wrote Smokey on one post.

“What the….? Who in their right mind does that to a a baby? What’s wrong with these people??” writes another.
