Ohio: De’Asia Sims identified as body found by park rangers

Police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old woman in Fairfield, Ohio. Her body was found Sunday, just a day after her mother reported her missing.

Authorities identied the woman late Monday as De’Asia Sims from Middletown. Fairfield police are investigating the circumstances of her death and the Butler County Coroner is working to determine the cause.

Sims’ mother, Seletta Wilson, reported her daughter missing on Saturday, according to police records. Wilson told police that her daughter had left her house on 10th Avenue in Middletown around 1 p.m. Friday, saying that she was going to a cousin’s house but the cousin said she never showed up.

According to officials, Hamilton County park rangers found the body around 9:40 p.m. Sunday near an entrance to the Bolton Water Works Plant off Lick Road.

The woman’s mother became increasingly concerned when De’Asia’s phone continued to go to voicemail. Wilson said that this was “uncommon” and “unusual” for her daughter, who always “text her back.”

“I haven’t been able to eat since Friday and I haven’t been able to sleep,” said Wilson. “I knew something was wrong because she would always tell me ‘mommy I’m here’ or answer me and she didn’t.”

Records show Wilson said Sims’ car was found by a Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy abandoned in a park Friday.

Wilson said the deputy told her that her daughters purse and other belongings were inside the car when it was found.

“My heart is broken, that’s my only girl,” Wilson said.

According to the missing persons report, Wilson thought her daughter might be hanging out with a boyfriend in Colerain but she called him and he said he hasn’t seen her in about a week.

“She was not a bad girl, did not deserve this, never got in trouble, nothing,” she said. “And she graduated from school and was in college, just a beautiful girl.”

Although police are still investigating the circumstances behind Sims’ death, family members want answers.

“I have no idea who done this to my child and I’m not going to stop until justice is served,” Wilson said.
