Nigeria’s Islamic State, Boko Haram, murders Red Cross aid worker, Saifura Khorsa, will kill Leah Sharibu in a week
(International Christian Concern) –Leah Sharibu and two aid workers from the International Committee of the Red Cross are a week away from being killed by Boko Haram if the government does not rescue them. On September 16, Boko Haram sent a message to the Nigerian Government that they had just killed an aid worker named Saifura Khorsa who had been captive since March of this year.
They said that they killed her because the government had not given into their demands. Saifura is one of the very rare cases in which Boko Haram has killed an Islamic female that they had kidnapped. They released the other 104 Dapchi Girls, besides five who were killed during transport, because they were Muslims.
When they sent the message of Saifura’s killing to the government, they also said that they would kill the other two ICRC workers and Leah in one months’ time unless the government gave them what they want. They demand have not been made public, though Boko Haram said that they have been in contact with government officials. Despite this threat and new information, the government still has not contacted Leah’s family at any point and have not acted on it. Leah remains in captivity and we hope to see her released prior to the deadline.
