New ‘Tron’ film moves forward as Disney hires writer Jesse Wigutow

A sequel to “Tron: Legacy,” call it “Tron 3” or “Tron: Legacy 2” – none of it matters to fans who are excited about the news from THR on Wednesday that the project is taking a major leap forward.

Jesse Wigutow will be brought in to finalize the draft of the script for Joseph Kosinski, who directed “Legacy.”

Even with modest reviews, the 2010 reboot of the “Tron” franchise earned over $400 million worldwide and appears to be a focus of Alan Horn, who took the reins of Disney Studios in June, says THR.

There are no details on the story with David DiGilio writing the first draft.

Wigutow is adapting “Peter and the Starcatcher” and wrote “Egagon,” a remake of “The Crow” and 2003’s “It Runs in the Family.”
