New Looper trailer pits Bruce Willis against his younger self, Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a character called Joe, while Bruce plays his older self, making the confrontation all the more interesting to watch. Writer and director of “Looper,” Rian Johnson, has claimed that he’d rather not follow the lead of other hugely-anticipated new films by releasing a barrage of footage ahead of the film’s premiere.
The space-time continuum, and its cause-and-effect vs. free will and alternate timelines, is an urgent debate pulsing in the background of the new trailer.
It takes plenty of makeup to make the pair look alike (albeit two decades or so apart in age), but the young gun and the classic action star seem matched up well when it comes to the chase that starts following Gordon-Levitt’s hesitation.
The film also co-stars Emily Blunt (who gets to play with plenty of guns herself), Paul Dano and Jeff Daniels.
“Looper” comes to theaters on September 28, 2012.
