New ‘Gotham’ season 2 teaser previews Nathan Darrow as Mr Freeze
The Gotham mid-season finale may have excited fans, keeping the tensions high for the second half of season two, a teaser sets up the introduction of a major villain: Mr. Freeze.
Victor Fries will eventually become Mr. Freeze, a cold, bitter supervillain who must hide within a temperature-controlled suit after an experiment with an instant-freezing serum causes a tragic accident in his life. The character will be played by House of Cards regular Nathan Darrow, he plays the Underwood’s bodyguard Ed Meechum.
The new trailer does not feature any footage of Fries, but that does seem to be Darrow’s voice over the clip setting up the match-up against Ben McKenzie’s idealistic and conflicted James Gordon and Donal Logue‘s heavy handed Detective Bullock.
Many fans feel that the “Rise of the Villains” season has been ripe with weak stories and poor character development as the writing staff are juggling too many plot points. For example, Harvey Dent’s role, played by Nicholas D’Agosto, in Gotham’s war on crime has been non-existent.
Chris Chalk did talk to Collider about his return later this season, saying that there will be focus on his relationship with Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz): “You’ll see those seeds being planted this season. We planted the one big crop, and now it is setting its roots. That’s a weird analogy, but it makes sense in my brain.”
Gotham will return this coming February to Fox.
