New FPS video game ‘The Walking Dead Survival Instinct’ due in March VIDEO
A FPS video game based on the AMC TV series “The Walking Dead” is on the way March for the Wii U, reports Digital Spy on Thursday.
The game is the same as the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions, but will make use of the GamePad’s touch screen to manage inventory.
“We were over halfway through the project when the Wii U thing started coming about,” producer Glenn Gamble told Digital Spy.
“We didn’t want to change the game, because the game had already been established, so we tried to say, ‘What can we augment with the Wii U version?’
“That’s where it’s basically a more elegant inventory management system. With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tap what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It’s a lot more streamlined.”
The game comes to stores on March 26, 2013.
“Survival Instincts” will serve as a prequel to the hit TV series based on Robert Kirkman’s long-running comic, featuring actors Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker reprising their roles as brothers Daryl and Merle. Here’s the official synopsis:
In the game, players assume the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon. This first-person survival title takes place within the universe of “The Walking Dead” and before the events of the AMC show, following Daryl and his brother Merle on a gruesome journey to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta as the world around them ends. Reedus and Rooker will bring life to their characters’ desperate, unforgiving struggle against limited resources, the nightmarish walkers and, perhaps, their fellow survivors…
