Netflix approves ‘Jessica Jones’ season 3

Netflix has picked up a third season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

The renewal comes a little more than a month following its second-season launch on March 8, International Women’s Day. Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as titular New York City PI, and was the second Netflix-Marvel series to launch behind Daredevil and followed by Luke CageIron Fist and Punisher.

CBM noted that “While the second season wasn’t nearly as well-received as the first, Ritter’s fan-favorite portrayal of the superheroine remained as strong as ever and carried the series from start-to-finish. With the second season finale leaving Jessica at odds with both Trish and Malcolm, we’re surely in for an interesting season three as she embarks on a new mystery without her two closest confidantes. Plus, if that bit with the cell phone was any indicator, we may also finally get to see Trish Walker suit up as Hellcat.”

Deadline summarized “In Season 2, Jones is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.”

Ritter stars alongside Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse. The series is executive produced by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg along with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

Netflix’s schedule: Luke Cage season two, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on June 22. We’ll then be treated to the long-awaited Daredevil season three, which is rumored to hit in the 4Q of this year, Iron Fist season two, which will likely arrive at the top of next year, and The Punisher season two, which is currently filming and will probably hit summer 2019 if Netflix sticks to its current release schedule.
