NBC begins production on ‘Constantine,’ first look at Matt Ryan in costume

NBC’s new show Constantine went into production with a couple of new photos posted on Slates for Sarah.

Production crews from around the world have posted photos to Slates for Sarah, a Facebook page devoted to Sarah Jones, the camera assistant who died in an accident on set in February.

Filming in Atlanta, this is fans first look at Matt Ryan in costume as Constantine, the “enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.”

Ryan totally looks the part, minus a cigarette.

Neil Marshall (The Descent) is directing the pilot from a script by Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist).  Cerone developed the story with David S. Goyer (Man of Steel).

I’ve been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985. This Constantine, envisioned by Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics’ covers. Fans old and new are going to be in for a treat,” said executive producer Goyer.

The synopsis from the press release: CONSTANTINE follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond.
