Natalie Portman says Marvel films featuring a woman and non-white hero may be coming

Natalie Portman has said that a female-led superhero film “is coming”. The actress also said that she is looking forward to a comic book movie starring a non-white hero.

“There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming – I have heard is coming – and, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting. Title characters,” she told SciFiNow.

The Black Swan star sees plenty of potential in the Marvel mythos.

“But they do definitely have strong female characters in them and I think it’s a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterise them.

“You can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a ‘woman’.”

Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhofff has been rumored to be taking on the role of Captain Marvel/Ms Marvel.

Portman will shortly reprise her role as Jane Foster in Marvel Studios Thor: The Dark World.

The film will open on November 8.
