Naegleria fowleri survivor, Kali Hardig, walks, swings bat and throws basketball
The Benton, Arkansas miracle child, who recently became the third person (second in the US) to survive the greater than 99 percent lethal “brain eating amoeba”, Naegleria fowleri, is making astonishing progress according to recent posts on the Facebook tribute page, Prayers for Kali Le Ann.
The most recent post by her parents documenting Kali’s advancement says it all:
Kali continues to amaze her mom and dad every day. She walked across the room with a person on each side holding her arms and then back to the other side. Then she threw the basketball in the goal and swung a bat at blocks! She set up in bed and watch T.V. and really enjoyed the show! Plus she looked so pretty as always!!
This follows recent posts concerning her talking to her mom and writing her name.
Kali Hardig was the sixth case of parasitic meningitis in the state of Arkansas in 40 years. It is believed she contracted the parasite while swimming at Willow Springs Water Park in Little Rock.
