‘Mulan’ sets Jason Scott Lee as the villain, ‘Lady and the Tramp’ adds Justin Theroux

Disney added some new cast for two of their new projects: Jason Scott Lee, star of Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, has now joined the Mulan live-action project while Lady and the Tramp added Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) in the new live-action/CGI hybrid remake.

Theroux will voice the role of Tramp the streetwise dog, who shows pampered pooch Lady how much fun life on the streets can be. Ashley Jensen, 48, was recently the first star to sign on to the movie, taking on the role of Jackie. Jackie has been described as a female version of Jock. Director Charlie Bean, who helmed Tron: Uprising and The LEGO Ninjago Movie will direct the live-action movie.

Gong Li, was previously cast as one of the antagonists in Mulan, while Lee will portray a warrior by the name of Bori Khan. He’s described as a leader dead set on avenging his father’s death.

Lee portrayed Mowgli in his younger years in the studios’ 1994 live-action version of The Jungle Book. He was also part of the voice cast for 2002’s Lilo and Stitch.

Mulan includes Rogue One‘s Donnie Yen, newcomer Yoson An, Marco Polo star Ron Yuan, the one and only Jet Li, Pitch Perfect star Utkarsh Ambudkar, Xana Tang, Chum Ehelepola and Liu Yifei as the titular hero.

Niki Caro, who previously helmed McFarland, USA for Disney and made a name for herself with the 2002 indie hit Whale Rider.

Mulan is scheduled to hit theaters on March 27, 2020.
