Movie News roundup: ‘Red 3,’ Timecop reboot, new Marvel films and Benedict Cumberbatch showering

Marvel struck gold again with Iron Man 3 crossing the $1 billion mark worldwide. Marvel Studios Exec Kevin Feige gave EW the inside scoop on several of their Phase 3 projects which includes: Doctor Strange (“he’s a great character” – more here)
Mark Ruffalo appears to be set for Avengers 2 and Feige seems confident that a third Hulk film will be worked out as well.
Summit Entertainment has hired Red and Red 2 writers Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber to write Red 3. Red 2 doesn’t even open untiil July 19 and returns Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich among others. The screenwriting brothers’ also wrote Battleship.
The video game Assassin’s Creed will be adapted into a film with Michael Fassbender as the lead character.
Twentieth Century Fox has scheduled the film for a May 22, 2015 opening, IGN reports.
The Prometheus star first became attached to the role last July and was described as the “first choice” by Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet.
“Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor,” said Baronnet.
The games’ storyline follows a bartender who learns that he is a descendant of famous assassins after being kidnapped by the Knights Templar. The action takes place during the Crusades and Renaissance.
The latest game in the series, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, will be released on October 29
