Movie News: ‘Cruella’ ‘Quiet Place 2’ ‘Ghostbusters 2020’

Several movie updates from the week includes casting updates on Cruella, details on Ghostbusters 2020 as A Quiet Place II wraps filming.

A Quiet Place II

John Krasinski will not be in the director’s chair for A Quiet Place: Part II, which began filming back this past summer and took to Twitter to announce that the sequel has wrapped principal photography.

Krasinski commemorated the occasion by posting this photo of himself with his wife Emily Blunt. Check out the pic below.

Part two brings back Blunt, Noah Jupe, Millicent Simmonds and adds newcomers Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Peaky Blinders) and Djimon Hounsou.

While no details have really emerged, Krasinski explained some scope for the new film, confirming that it was not a retread of the original.

“[With A Quiet Place 2], we have the world. So it’s actually the world that’s built, it’s the idea that the rest of the world is going through this exact same experience. Are there other people that have to survive like this? It’s that idea of living through the set of circumstances, not again in the same way obviously, but exploring it more. You only got to do it intimately for a small amount of time, so what happens next?”

Cruella

After the first-look at Cruella during Disney’s D23 Expo in August (check out the photo below), a casting news update has arrived for the live-action remake of Disney’s beloved 1961 animated film 101 Dalmatians.

The new film will be directed by I, Tonya helmer Craig Gillespie and stars Oscar-winner Emma Stone as the titular villain, joined by The Good Place actor Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

Variety announced and the actress confirmed the news on her Instagram, captioning a screencap of an article announcing the news with “In a year of highs and lows, this is a very high high.”

Cruella‘s cast includes I, Tonya star Paul Walter Hauser, Paddington 2 actor Joel Fry, and Emma Thompson.

Hauser and Fry will play Cruella’s henchman Horace and Jasper who, in the animated movie, were charged with stealing Pongo and Perdita’s dalmatian puppies for de Vil’s evil plan to make a coat from their skin.

Thompson will play a new character simply called Baroness, a woman who may have a hand in the death of Cruella’s mother.

She had roles in the SXSW comedy-drama Daphne and AMC action-adventure series Into The Badlands. The actress recently starred with Anthony Mackie in Netflix sci-fi Outside The Wire and she has UK feature Sulphur And White upcoming.
