Movie casting news: Jai Courtney back for ‘The Suicide Squad’ as ‘A Quiet Place’ may add Cillian Murphy

A couple of big films to keep an eye on: The Suicide Squad, will Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn helming the film, and A Quiet Place sequel, simply called A Quiet Place 2 for now.

Suicide Squad

Fans learned from Aquaman and Shazam! producer Peter Safran that Warner Bros. and DC’s The Suicide Squad is going to be a “total reboot”, separate from David Ayer’s 2016 original movie.

There were all sort of rumors swirling after Gunn’s name was attached to the project and then confirmation that Idris Elba was being sought to replace Will Smith as the central figure Deadshot. Then there was news the Margot Robbie would be back as Harley.

Now Australian actor Jai Courtney now says he’ll be back to reprise his role as Captain Boomerang.

During an interview with Business Insider, Courtney said he would be coming back with his Australian hunting weapons, drinking at inappropriate times and unicorns.

“We’re getting ready to shoot in a few months’ time. There’s not much else I can reveal about it but yet, you’ll be seeing Boomerang back for sure. I’m happy, it’s going to be fun. It will be different, for sure, but it’s going to be great.”

There was news that  King Shark, Ratcatcher, and Polka-Dot Man were going to get an opportunity to step into the spotlight.

The Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 6, 2021.

A Quiet Place 2

One of the best films of 2018 was the horror film written and directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place. Now fans learn that Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, 28 Days Later, Peaky Blinders) is in talks to join the cast of A Quiet Place 2, Paramount’s planned sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter reported Murphy’s potential involvement with this sequel, stating that he’s in talks to join several returning cast members from the original breakout hit, including Emily Blunt as Evelyn, the Abbott family matriarch, and Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, reprising their roles as Abbott children Regan and Marcus, respectively.

As for Murphy, THR’s sources reveal that he “will play a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family unit.”

When production got underway on this sequel, Krasinski posted a photo on Instagram and used the hashtag #PartII, indicating that this will be the next chapter in the Abbott family saga.

A Quiet Place 2 is set to start filming this July, and it will arrive in theaters on May 15, 2020.
