More Than Words 2018: Jentezen Franklin points Christians to a mirror to see Christ and be set apart

The third annual More Than Words Conference in Palmetto, Florida on Saturday concluded with a riveting message from Jentezen Franklin.

Franklin pulls from 2 Corinthians and the story of Marina Chapman to challenge the teens, youths and Christian leaders to examine themselves.

“When she saw who she really was, after 14 years, she couldn’t fit in in the jungle anymore,” explained Franklin, beginning his challenge for Christians to examine their life in the Bible, see more and more of Jesus Christ, to set themselves apart from the world.

Chapman’s story begins with a kidnapping, then abandonment in the Colombian jungle to live among a tribe of capuchin monkeys.

“Days became weeks. Weeks became months. Months became years…then 10 years,” Franklin laid out. “A decade with no humans.”

Pulling out a small hand mirror, Franklin made his point: “Then she saw who she really was,” referring to a small mirror Chapman found on the floor of the jungle. “It was after fourteen years, when she saw some hunters that she realized she was different and didn’t belong in that jungle.”

Chapman’s story has been chronicled in a National Geographic documentary Woman Raised By Monkeys. Get a copy of her book HERE

“The Bible is the mirror,” Franklin told the crowd, then detailed how they are “made for something more…they are not like everyone else. The Bible shows you who you are, who you are to be and not be…giving you a purpose.”

He wrapped his message declaring that “Once you see Jesus, you can’t be comfortable anymore…you won’t fit in the jungle and you won’t fit in this world.”

Jentezen explained that he shared a similar version of this message with the Hillsong Church, check out that clip below.

The 2018 event open with organizer Gus Cabrera, the Program Director at Loving Hands Ministries and then Pastor Levi Lusko of Fresh Life Church.
